Tien Nan Monastery Hosts a 7-Day Summer Chan Camp for College Students
The purpose of the camp was to teach the students to purify the vexations in their mind through Chan meditation, to look within themselves to discover their true self, and contemplate the meaning of life.Venerable Chang Feng said that many young people nowadays indulge in the pleasure of the 3Cs (computers, communications and consumer products), which not only creates distance in their relationships with others unintentionally, but also fail to find a sense of direction and meaning in life.
Through experiences at the camp the students were able to rediscover their own values and deepen their relationship with the global society. They were taught to contribute to society with compassion and gratitude. (translated by Jin Yang/edited by DDM Australia Editing Team)
